“To Dogs”

They say “you
hurt the ones
closest to you—“

If I had
dogs, I would
beat them, then

Tell them I’m
sorry—Give them
treats and kisses

But the difference
between dogs and
people, is no

Matter how much
you beat a
dog, he will

Stay—A person
will eventually bite
back and leave

“O’ Nauseous Summer”

Nobody asks
to be born—
I certainly didn’t

And this
nauseous summer
certainly proves it

I broke down
in a cemetery—
with empty pockets

With nothing
and nothing
and certainly nothing
