Poop and Art?! Our friend and artist Suzanne Oshinsky’s been asking people to talk about their bathroom art for her contribution to Issue 3, Talking About Art While Pooping. An interview series that asks people to discuss the way in which they curate their bathroom is exactly the kind of low and high brow collision that DUM DUM adores. When we asked her to design an object inspired by her project, her contribution turned out to be delightfully multi ply (wink wink).

Her first interview is with Christopher Russell, who just released a project called Pattern Book which contains one of the pieces discussed in the video. Watch the two talk about grandma aesthetics and having a dab of red in the bathroom.

A note from Suzanne on the project series: The series is inspired from a conversation I had with my 5 year old niece. While Makenzie was visiting my home she needed to go poo. At the time she didn’t like to go to the bathroom alone, so I accompanied her. After she sat there for a few minutes she began talking about the art works that were there. She compared and contrasted the work, and told me why she liked certain pieces over others. It was, and still is the most in depth conversation I have had with her about art.

Below are the seven questions I ask during an interview:

1. Who are you?
2. How long have you lived here?
3. How did you decide to decorate this room?
4. Did you seek out specific pieces to hang in here, or were they pieces you already owned?
5. Describe the artworks.
6. Why did you decide to hang these works in here specifically?
7. What did you eat today?

You can touch, see, feel, smell the object she designed for Issue 3 in our spankin’ new online store, or if you’re local, stop by our release party in Echo Park this Saturday to rummage through our box.
