Welcome to ZINETERVIEWS, an ongoing feature where  DUM DUM contributor Bryxan Amsterdam conducts an interview with a band via text message. For our first installment, Bryxan speaks to Shayne Easton, singer of L.A.’s Spider Problem. The conversation originally appeared as part of  Funkadelic Forever, a zine Bryxan created for Olympia’s 24 Hour Zine Thing.

Bryxan Amsterdam (BA) 3:02pm: So how are things? Where are you right now?

Shayne Easton (SE) 3:08pm: All is groovy! just got done buying some shirts to make for our tour and now i’m at El Compadre in Echo Park ordering tacos. Having an emotional relationship with the chips and salsa.

BA 3:09pm: Cool. I like tacos. What’s on yr taco?

SE 3:11pm: Chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and magic!

BA 3:12pm: Magic everything in this bitch.

SE 3:18pm: Whoa! You just quoted I.C.P.!
We are doing great. about to order the vinyl for our first full length ‘retroamusement’ and going to record a new EP when we get back from tour. Nana (drummer) visa’s got renewed so we are all happy campers! Mike (guitar) misses you and wants you to call him 2nite! What’s a 24 hour magazine?

BA 3:25pm: Well. some peeps from the library donated a buncha supplies to get kids to make a 24 page zine in 24 hours.

SE 3:26pm: Aw thats such a great idea! I got the beef taquitos instead, btw.

BA 3:29pm: Nice.

SE: I can’t wait to be in the NW. It’s so green up there and everyone is so nice.
